Day 3: Nairobi/Amboseli National Park

After breakfast this morning, a light aircraft takes you to Amboseli National Park. This seasonal swamp is one of the finest areas in the country for big game photography, attracting a vast population of wildlife. The landscape, with its parched alkaline pan and strange mirages is dominated by the glistering majestic snow–capped of Mount Kilimanjaro, an extinct volcano of 5,894m or 19337 feet, known as the “Roof of Africa”.

Amboseli is one of East Africa’s best locations for spotting elephant. Predators stalk the herds of grazing animals, recreating the age–old drama of life and death under the African sun, in a lushly beautiful setting.

Tonight, as we delight in another luscious meal at this exceptional Camp, we are once again stunned by the beauty of the orange sunset that hovers in the wild African sky, signaling the end to yet another unforgettable day on safari.

Day 5-6: Amboseli/Samburu National Game Reserve

On this morning flight to Samburu in northern Kenya via Nairobi, we wing across the ever-changing landscape. Samburu is famous for the rare and unusual species such as reticulated giraffe, long–necked gerenuk, beisa Oryx, blue legged Somali ostrich and Grevy’s Zebra. Samburu is one of Kenya’s smallest parks, making game viewing spectacular.

After lunch and a siesta you will enjoy an extended afternoon game drive.

The following day explore the beauty and ruggedness of this game park on your game viewing drive. The river here is the arterial lifeline for many endemic species.

Larsen Tented Camp

Day 7: Samburu/Maasai Mara

This morning we fly over the Great Rift Valley to Maasai Mara and here we find the old Africa of the movies, with rolling grasslands dotted by acacia trees and sweeping plains teeming with wildlife. This northern extension of the Serengeti ecosystem, one of the world’s most rewarding wildlife observation areas, virtually throbs with life. Here the Maasai graze their cattle and live side by side with the resident wildlife. Your luxury camp is tucked away in a prime wildlife area in the heart of the Maasai Mara.

You have the option to visit a Maasai village (additional cost) to see a way of life that has survived almost unchanged for generations. Many special events are planned here.

Day 8-9: Maasai Mara National Game Reserve

Today we get a closer look at the Mara during two extension game runs.

Game viewing options abound at Maasai Mara. Choose to go on morning game drive or take an optional bush walk with an expert naturalist guide, or you may wish to soar over the bush in an optional hot air balloon, seeing the world of the Mara; enormous herds of grazing herbivores and predators hiding among the acacia trees – black-maned lion and cheetah.

And finally the pinnacle of our stay – an optional bush cocktail party deep in the heart of the Mara at sunset.
