Day 1:  U.S.A

Leave U.S for overnight transatlantic flight to Europe (London or Amsterdam)

Day 2: Arrive Kilimanjaro / Arusha

Arrive in Europe and connect with your flight to Arusha, Tanzania. Upon arrival, you will be met by our representative and escorted to your lodge in Arusha.

Day3: Arusha/Serengeti

This morning after breakfast we board our schedule flight to Tanzania’s most famous park, the Serengeti, it’s undoubtedly the best – known wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequalled for its natural beauty and scientific value. With more than one and half million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of Thomson’s gazelle and zebra, it has the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa. The wildebeest and zebra moreover form the star cast of a unique spectacular- the annual Serengeti/Mara migration. After settling into your tented camp, an afternoon game drive awaits. The expansive vistas of the Serengeti are a breathtaking sight. The most exclusive of the Serena Groups many Safari venues, the exquisite Kirawira Tented Camp is the epitome of classic safari camp luxury and a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group.

Day 4: Serengeti

Today we get a closer look at the Serengeti during two extensive game runs.

The sheer size and expanse of the plains spread out around you is awesome and the number of animals as far as the eye can see is simply amazing. The Serengeti is perhaps most famous for the annual migration, but game viewing here is superb year round. Plains game, big cats and hundreds of bird species are all here.

Day 5: Serengeti/Ngorongoro

After breakfast and morning game drive we fly across the Serengeti plains to Ngorongoro Crater, in the afternoon we visit the fascinating Oldupai Gorge, famous for the treasure-trove discovery of both human and animal fossils dating 1.7 million years ago which provided some of the first clues to human life, a talk will be given on palaentogical digs, which have taken place. Arrival early at Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, Accommodation will be at a lodge built into the rim of dormant volcano.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater

Today, we descend into the crater and spend the day light hours tracking animals, with picnic lunch. A spectacular game haunt, the 102 square mile crater is a perfect caldera, one of the largest on earth.

The ever – changing mood of the greatest amphitheatre will hold our attention every second of the day. Million years ago a smoldering volcano collapsed creating the crater and a haven for an estimated 30,000 large mammals, including lion, elephant, hyena, and wildebeest, rare endangered black rhino among others.

The crater’s floor is home to a wide variety of habitats supporting abundant wildlife and birdlife such as white –necked raven, bateleur eagle, the kori bustard (the world’s largest flying bird) see if you can spot its elaborate territorial display during breeding season. And tonight as we delight in others luscious meals at this exceptional lodge, we once again stunned by the beauty of the orange sunset that hooves in the wild African sky, signaling the end to yet another unforgettable day on safari.

Day 7: Ngorongoro/Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara is our destination today. Lake Manyara offers a rich diversity of scenery and wildlife including the famous tree-climbing lions. At the eastern edge of the Rift Valley, Lake Manyara boasts dramatic views along the escarpment and a guided walk this afternoon gives you an opportunity to soak in the surrounding vistas, there is time to enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park itself, look for hippos wallowing in the hippo pools, the mischievous baboon and much more.

Day 8: Arusha/Depart

After a final early morning safari followed by a hearty breakfast, drive back to Arusha. A room has been reserved for you and the balance of the day is free for independent exploration. This evening transfer to the airport for your return flight. You may want to extend your stay with a few days of relaxation in Exotic Zanzibar (optional) to brush off the dust from the bush or climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 9: Arrive North America

Arrive home today, eager to share your experiences of the classic Tanzania safari.
